Looking dejected amid constant baseline pressure from Zvonareva, Bartoli soon found herself down 0-4 in the second set. However after a Zvonareva doublefault, Bartoli broke serve to take her only game of the match to draw to 1-4.
More errors from Bartoli, including a backhand crosscourt hit long, would end the easy win for Zvonareva. For the match Bartoli would hit only 2 winners while Zvonareva would connect with 25 winners.
"It was definitely a good performance from me," said Zvonareva. "I think I was staying pretty aggressive throughout the
match and executed well in the important moments and that probably made the difference."
In Sunday's final, Zvonareva will meet top seeded Ivanovic who today in the second semifinal defeated the third seeded Agnieszka Radwanska
of Poland 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.
Ivanovic took the early lead behind two breaks of serve to race to a 6-2 first set lead. In the second set, Radwanska capitalized on several Ivanovic errors to go ahead 4-1 before closing the set out 6-3. Ivanovic had saved three setpoints before netting a crosscourt forehand on setpoint number four.
Two forehands hit wide by Ivanovic saw her lose serve in the final set to fall to 2-3. Ivanovic would then cut her errors to win three games in a row to reach 5-3. Some aggressive play from Radwanska saw the match evened at 5 all.
Ivanovic was the more powerful of the the two players in the end however as she would hit four forehand winners in the final two games to take the match. Radwanska's winner count for the match was 22 while Ivanovic struck 42 winners as the more aggressive player.
