The 6 feet two inches tall Djokovic returned the serve with a down the line forehand which he hit long to end the match after two hours and three minutes of play.

Mensik, who turned professional in 2022, becomes the first man to win Miami in a debut appearance and moved up an impressive thirty spots from number 54 to number 24 on Monday in the tennis rankings.

Barring an unexpected rankings drop, Mensik's rankings rise should ensure he is seeded with the top 32 players at next month's second of four grand slams; Roland Garros also known as the French Open.

This means in Paris, Mensik should potentially not face a top player such as the world number one Jannik Sinner of Italy until at least round three.

And for Djokovic, he is left still chasing two significant numbers he remains very close to reaching.

Djokovic's career tournaments won stands at 99; one tournament title from 100.

Djokovic is also tied with the Australian great Margaret Court with 24 singles grand slam titles.

More numbers for Mensik; he finished Miami with a 7-0 tie-breaker record.

Mensik also becomes the second youngest male Miami winner ever at 19 years old six months.

The current world number three Carlos Alcaraz of Spain in 2022 became the youngest ever Miami champion at 18 years old nine months.

Roland Garros is to be played in Paris on clay May 25th - June 8th.

Mensik in his youth at age 19 has never yet played Roland Garros while Djokovic by contrast has played Roland Garros 20 times winning three titles.
